High-Performance Bedding (HPB)
High-performance bedding can be used for various projects. One big advantage of this washed limestone material is its quarter-inch angularity. It deters soil migration and is free-draining at the same time. It works perfectly as a drainage or base layer under paving stones and as a backup behind retaining walls. HPB is also excellent for other applications, including pipe bedding.
This is a 97% compact choice, so there’s no need to rent compacting equipment. Another benefit is a vast reduction in settling.
Granular A
This product is comprised of crushed sandy gravel and is perfect for the base in specific projects and grading where interlocking stone, retaining walls, concrete, and paving stones are involved. This product is known for its frost reduction and drainage capabilities and is very stable compared to crushed gravel.
¾ Inch Crusher Run
This is a favourite choice when surfaces need to be hardpacked. It’s used in driveway construction and as the foundational basis for roads. Angular stones are one of the characteristics. They range from three-quarter inch to slip sizes. This feature allows for improved interlocking and is an advantage over smooth stones that will enable water seepage.
Brick Sand:
This option is known for its fine texture. That’s why it’s used for stonework and making mortar. Some of the uses include aboveground swimming pools and sandboxes. It can also be mixed with clay soils for drainage applications.
Concrete Sand:
A coarse aggregate often follows concrete sand, resulting in concrete. It can be used as a foundational base for interlocking pavers, pipes, and septic systems. This is the result of a washed sand procedure, so it’s good for anything requiring graded clean sand.
1 ½ Inch Riverstone:
Riverstone, also called river rock, is a decorative stone that can be used for walkways and flowerbeds and is popular for different landscaping projects.
1-3 Inch Riverstone:
This is also used for landscaping projects that require a decorative application. The larger sizes tend to be used more in this fashion since they are harder to walk on.
3/8 Inch Pea Gravel:
Thisround-pea gravel contains no foreign material or sand. It’s used almost exclusively for drainage purposes but can also keep stone dust and particles down on walkways. This type of pea gravel is also used as a decorative addition in landscaping and concrete projects. It produces a soft surface and doesn’t compact very well.
¾ Inch Clear Limestone:
This particular type of limestone is used under concrete and is an integral part of drainage projects. One of the significant
advantages is that there’s minimal settling because the fines have been removed. It’s a good product to use for draining under foundations and surrounding weeping tiles. It also works well under decks, can be mixed with concrete products, and has other uses.
Limestone Screenings:
This is also known as stone dust. It is commonly used as the last layer when preparing a base for laying interlocking or patio stones. It has other uses, including pathways and driveways. It’s a product that can be used differently because it is great for levelling and regrading. Limestone screenings are found quite often on baseball diamonds.
